Review: Snow White at The Manchester Opera House
On Monday night we had the privilege of attending Snow White at The Manchester Opera House. This is not your typical Snow White Story which has been brilliantly adapted for this year’s panto, with an addition of a dragon, an evil aunt rather than a stepmother and is perfectly tailored for Manchester with plenty of twists related to the city. There we’re moments when the whole audience was in stitches of laughter and is certainly great fun for the whole family (OH, YES IT IS!).

The show starts with the 7 Dwarves who all have a range of very strong Manchester accents, which is a brilliant twist, introducing the story line to us. Beautiful Princess Snow White (Zoë George) and the Handsome Prince Harry (Joshua St. Clair) are destined to be married. However, the wickedly Jealous Queen Lucretia (Craig Revel Horwood) sets on a quest to get rid of Snow White with the help of Muddles and Dame Nora Crumble.

This Comedy duo thoroughly entertain the audience throughout with excellent wit and hilarious slap stick humour! Expect hilarious impressions of several celebrities, plenty of Manchester related jokes, very relevant political jokes and of course plenty of naughty innuendos. The show was even packed full of hilarious gasp worthy disasters (such as the curtain falling down to hair pieces being forgotten) which were so delightfully funny we can only assume they were staged!

Craig Revel Horwood stunned the audience as the Wicked Queen- we all expected him to be a FABULOUS dancer in which he did not disappoint however I don’t think many people expected his voice to be as amazing as it was! His spectacular rendition of ‘My Way’ certainly displayed his fantastic vocal range, and for the Strictly Come Dancing fans in the audience there was plenty of jokes and gags designed especially for you!

The set and costumes were just as fantastic as the acting and humour, meaning this panto ticks every single box!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is showing at Opera House, Manchester until Sunday, December 29.
