Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film Song-and-dance legend, Adam Cooper, reprises the iconic role made so famous by Gene Kelly in Jonathan Church’s critically acclaimed production of Singin’ in the Rain.
Andrew Wright’s high-energy choreography and Simon Higlett’s sumptuous set design (including over 14,000 litres of water on stage every night) combine with the charm, romance and wit of one of the world’s best- loved films. Singin’ in the Rain features the glorious MGM score including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the legendary Singin’ in the Rain.
The choreography from start to finish is full of complicated footwork and is performed brilliantly especially the tap routines.
Faye Tozer has a fantastic voice and plays Lina Lamont perfectly whilst Sam Lips is excellent as Don Lockwood and had an equally impressive voice. Charlotte Gooch as Kathy Selden is perfectly cast and has fantastic vocals, dancing and acting skills. Indeed, the entire cast were full of energy all the way through as they needed to be to pull of so many different talents!
The set was simple but effective with stunning costumes and superb professional lighting setting the scenes perfectly. The brilliant special effects to create the rain as well as real water make for a wet show for some of the audience!
