Review: Annie The Musical

Review: Annie The Musical

Wow, wow, wow! What an incredible night.

The cast of Annie the Musical took to the stage at the Liverpool Empire last night and, as a huge Anne fan, fulfilled all of my expectations and more.

This production is on tour once again after an extended season in the West End and clearly, audiences can’t get enough!

If you’ve forgotten the plot – here’s a quick re-cap. Annie is set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave orphan Annie has to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks.

The first thing we really must mention is the cast – more specifically the children. The youngsters on stage were incredible and deserve every ounce of credit. The group of girls who played the orphans worked so well together and each performer stood out in their own way.

The star name attached to the show was Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood who played Miss Hannigan. Horwood was utterly delightful to watch – he was funny, mean and really had the audience in his hands.

For the opening night, Taziva-Faye Katsande performed as Annie. She was an absolute star and her performance was faultless.

We urge everyone to come see Annie! It’s an uplifting show that will ensure your smiling (from ear to ear) for the rest of the night!

The show is on at the Liverpool Empire, Liverpool until Saturday, June 29.
