It has been revealed today that Strictly Ballroom The Musical will tour the UK next year and will be directed by Craig Revel Horwood.
Horwood who has directed the UK arena tours of Strictly come dancing in recent years said: "I am absolutely delighted to be directing the 2020/21 UK tour of Strictly Ballroom The Musical and it's going to be fabulous! The theatre is where I come alive and it is there that I feel in my most creative element so I simply cannot wait to put my stamp on this iconic and much-loved musical. Expect some sexy moves, sizzling costumes and a simply sensational evening!"
Based on the iconic award-winning Baz Luhrmann film, the show follows Scott who wants to wow in the world of Australian Federation ballroom dancing. It features many much loved songs including: "Love is in the Air", "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" and "Time After Time" and this new production includes brand new renditions including songs by Sia, David Foster and Eddie Perfect.
This new production will be touring from September 2020 and will visit a town near you including: Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Hull, Milton Keynes, Sunderland, Bristol, Bromley, Edinburgh, York, Salford, Guildford, Northampton, Southend, Llandudno, Aylesbury, Darlington, Wimbledon, Bournemouth, Derry, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Canterbury, Birmingham, Plymouth, Blackpool, Bradford, Southampton, Ipswich and Reading.
Casting and the creative team for the tour are yet to be announced.
